So why stay at
Heather Cottage?
Thirty miles lone with only one
road, Jura really is a place to get away from it all. That's
probably the best reason why George Orwell came here to write 1984. With a population somewhere near
200 people, Jura natural beauty is largely unspoilt and unparalleled
even for the Hebrides. With the Paps of Jura, archaeoligical
sites containing standing stones and the famous raised beaches, few
other places in the United Kingdom can compare with Jura's natural
beauty. Outdoor sports such as brown trout fishing (fly only) can
be arranged with us as well, or if you just enjoy bird watching and
hill-walking, then saunter out the front door-that is if you make it
past the beach, which is only some 100 metres away! Heather
Cottage fronts the Lussa River with its side to Lussa Bay with a
magnificent view south.
The settlement of
Inverlussa consists of the Old School Hosue and six stone cottages
built for estate workers at the end of the 19th century. Heather
Cottage is an end cottage, 20 yards from the Lussa River and facing the
beautiful sandy Lussa Bay.
