Famous Families and Clans of
the
Isle of Jura
We receive e-mails, letters, notes
and every other form of conceivable communique from around the world
about which clan or famous family names are attached to Jura.
Until now we have soldiered on in trying to meet these requests, but as
they have become too common-and as we have seen some very tartan and
shortbread web sites trying to attach themselves to Jura in less than
favourable fashion-we've decided to create this "Famous Families and
Clans of the Isle of Jura" web page. The links on this page,
unless otherwise noted, will
take the reader to individual web pages that provide the official description
of the families and clans known to have been associated with the Isle
of Jura over time. The
descriptions are based on information received from publications
produced by the Lord Lyon of Scotland, the arbitor of
all things regarding genealogy and heraldry in Scotland and serving as
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's official representative on the isssue.
So, don't blame us, we're just relaying the information and remember,
at the end of the day you're still a Highlander and an Islemen to
boot-even if you don't like what the Queen has to say about the
relatives (wink).
Order of precedence, there is none,
we simply took a look through our vast archives and culled out the
"common" names known to have been attached to Jura throughout history...
