Bogh’ a’ Chùirn -
Bog of (the) cairn; Mcarthur (1986) translates as "breaker or sunken
rock
of An Carn". Depending on the original position of
the placename,
either translation could be accurate as the shore area beneath An
Carn has
areas of deep mud interspersed with rocks. MacLeod translates as
same.
Interestingly, the Spanish nautical term for such a feature is bàja,
which
has a similar pronunciation and aspiration. 6840 9350
