Corryvreckan - (The) great trough (of) broken water; Mcarthur (1986) translates as "the cauldron of Breckan", alluding to local oral history.  6950 0170

Corryvreckan No. 1 – The great maelstrom with the island of Scarba beyond in this view from the southwest.  Obtained while sailing offshore of Na Rubhachan Dubha at the very top of Jura, this is a rare view of the great maelstrom at ebb tide displaying a false tranquilty.
