Poll a' Cheo - (The) boggy (port) of mist. MacLean translates as same. 5040 6280

Poll a’ Cheo No. 1 – A view from the west atop Aonach Challtuin, this bay may be linked with the legendary burial of St. Ernan, the uncle of St. Columba. According to legend, St. Ernan asked to be returned to Hinba, and carried ashore at a “mist-shrouded glen”. Jura has been argued to be the much sought after refuge island of St. Columba and the local legend that Kilearnadil, of “Cille Earnadail”, was St. Ernan’s church and a portion of a greater religious community may lend credence to the story. In any instance, the topographic description of the bay is certainly apt as due to its south facing open mouth it is constantly shrouded by water spray and mist.
